The Coolest Offices in the World Over the years, office design has evolved and changed to suit the working world. From large open plan offices with a manager looking over the workers, to small cubicle desks spaces theres certainly been a huge variation in what people think works well. In more recent years, collaboration and freedom in the workplace has been a quintessential factor for creating a productive workforce. As technology is changing and work is becoming more cloud based, working space has evolved and developed into a fun and interesting way to motivate employees, whilst providing a comfortable workspace too. Everyone wants to work in a cool office space, so what brands have been upping their game when it comes to having the awesomest office? Airbnb: Airbnb are an awesome brandand their offices reflect it. The entire office space is open plan, with no private offices (even for the founders!). There are collaboration spaces for employees to work together on projects, and lots of mini work caves for employees to sit in quietness if desired. Importance of Writing Resume in an Unimaginable Way

Importance of Writing Resume in an Unimaginable WayAn important thing to remember when writing a resume is that you should make it so that it is understandable and appealing to employers. This means that you should write your resume in a way that can be understood by the people who will be reading it, whether for the first time or for the second. You need to write your resume in such a way that it can reach all the right places. Some people may not think this important, but it can be a real problem especially when your target audience is the most difficult people to reach: your friends and family. And for this reason, you should have a good grasp of the English language. Otherwise, you may just leave out the people you are supposed to reach and thus end up wasting your time as well as that of those whom you are supposed to help.It is extremely important to keep track of everything while job search. This means that you should spend some time in organizing your documents. For example, i f you have a bunch of different papers scattered all over the office or in the room where you will be sitting, you will not get much done during the workday. And if you don't organize it in a logical manner, you may find yourself going back to the start of the paper and all that work you started off with becomes a complete waste.Another important thing to remember when writing a resume is that you should always create a paper in a style that can be easily understood by all. By doing this, you will be able to grab the attention of everyone and that is what you want. You should not ignore this aspect of your job search. If you want to achieve success, you should be able to stand out among all of your competition. By making your resume understandable and easy to read, you will be able to attract an employer's attention to the area that you are trying to highlight. If you find that your skills are on par with the present situation, then you should focus more on the tasks that you can be t hankful for. This means that you should take the opportunity to emphasize on the positive aspects of your work experience. This will help you put a smile on the faces of those who are working around you.An important aspect of being able to make a resume in an understandable manner is the use of bullet points. As you know, bullet points are usually very short and easy to understand. If you can make your bullet points shorter and simpler, you will be able to help others a lot with this aspect of writing a resume. You must know that a long list of accomplishments is not always going to be convincing. What you should do is that you must be able to tell what separates you from the rest of your competitors. If you can tell that, you will be well on your way to getting a job in a company that can benefit you in a big way.

How to Influence Search Results to Reflect Your Brand - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

How to Influence Search Results to Reflect Your Brand - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career How can I influence Google search results for my name to be sure they appropriately reflect my business brand? These answers are provided by  Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), an invite-only organization comprised of the worlds most promising young entrepreneurs. YEC has also launched  BusinessCollective, a free virtual mentorship program that helps millions of entrepreneurs start and grow businesses. 1. Add Relevant Brand Information to Your  Personal  Profiles There is a good chance that  personal  LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google+ accounts appear when a name is searched online. Since these websites are very powerful, adding relevant information to your accounts ensures that people see what you want them to. For instance, an entrepreneur can create eye-catching social profiles that are linked directly to their brand.  Derek Robinson,  Top Notch Dezigns 2. Be Consistent Across Your Social Media Profiles There are many business or  social networking sites where one needs to enter professional details. If the profile is consistent across all sites, Google will definitely link and highlight your brand with your name. Also, make sure to enter a short description or brand strategy along with designation and company name. It helps position the brand uniformly when someone searches your name.  Liam Martin,  TimeDoctor.com 3. Create Company Profiles on Third-Party Sites Sites like Crunchbase and Inc.com do profiles about companies that you can claim and contribute to. Social media profiles are not enough if you want to control your search results. Look for sites where your company can be reviewed and add your best photos and text.  Sites like Glassdoor are extremely important for potential employees to see when they Google your company.  Matt Wilson,  Under30Experiences 4. Make News Do something newsworthy and major media outlets will cover you and the coverage will show up when someone searches for you on Google. Focus on achieving great things within your business. Then cultivate relationships with the people who are able to get your story told, whether they are at public relations firms or the outlets themselves.  Adam Mendler,  Beverly Hills Chairs 5. Publish Shareable Content Its not just about creating a lot of content and hoping it will get indexed. The algorithm takes into account the sharability of the content and how many people are actually spreading the word about it. If your content is not getting shares, then it may not be indexed and it will not reflect your brand well. Make sure the viewership is there before you start publishing your content everywhere.  Sweta Patel,  Silicon Valley Startup Marketing 6. Have an Active, Link-Rich Online Presence Google considers links as votes. A backlink from a high-authority site like Forbes and Wikipedia will improve your domain authority and help Google to rank you on top. Guest posting is a good way to get high-authority links. Besides, you should get your business listed on Google, be active on the social media platforms and integrate brand schema and review schema to your site.  Jas Saran,  G Web Pro Marketing 7. Optimize Your Meta Data Make sure you optimize all the meta data on the various pages of your website to reflect your brand or what you want to communicate. A webpages meta data controls what is displayed in the Google search results for that page. This is a great place to put a poignant slogan or series of words that reflect your brand, because it is the first thing that people will see when searching for it.  Justin Faerman,  Conscious Lifestyle Magazine 8. Build a Strategic Content Marketing Plan Building a website is just the beginning of building up your Google search results. To make sure you rank for the correct terms, youll want to start blogging strategically and creating content your customers want to read. Find out questions your target market is asking on Quora and write  blog  posts that answer their questions.  Syed Balkhi,  OptinMonster 9. Create a  Personal  Website The best way to ensure you control the results about you on Google is to own the top search results for your name. There are two ways to do this. One is to be the highest bidder for your name in Google AdWords. The second is to rank on the first page organically within Google. Luckily, it is not too difficult to rank for your name unless you have the same name as a very famous person.  Brian Greenberg,  True Blue Life Insurance, Inc 10. Write Guest Posts with Backlinks to Your Website Aside from the basics, like making sure your LinkedIn and any profile information on your website is up to date, consider writing guest posts for influential blogs in your industry. Typically, publishers may allow at least one backlink to your site, boosting your SEO. Guest posts also help position yourself as a thought leader and will help populate search results with content relevant to your brand.  Ismael Wrixen,  FE International 11. Link Your Guest Posts to Other Articles Youve Written Start guest posting to as many authoritative sites as possible so that you get many author bios. When guest posting, link to other articles youve submitted and to your bios to improve the link popularity of each.  Marcela De Vivo,  Mulligan Funding 12. Have a Tag Line and Always Include It After Your Name Tag lines help people understand what it is your brand is all about right a way. Include a tag line in your LinkedIn profile, or anywhere your name is mentioned. You can include it in press releases, or even go back to published posts to re-edit them to include your tag line with your name.  Over time, the more places your name/tag line exists, the more likely Google search results will include it.  Robert De Los Santos,  Sky High Party Rentals

5 Tips for Avoiding the Perils of Charisma

5 Tips for Avoiding the Perils of Charisma We all like to think of ourselves as that great, cool boss who leads by example while charming the workforce at the same time. But it turns out that humility  is a far more important quality in a leader than charisma. New research by Hogan Assessments has found that  just by showing signs of humility, overly charismatic leaders can offset the qualities that make them unlikeable. A dose of humility can make a narcissistic boss seem more approachable, supportive, and open to feedback. Dena Rhodes, Research Consultant for Hogan Assessments, says: Humility has the ability to counteract the potentially harmful effects of narcissism, which can lead to positive outcomes for the organisation. This suggests that individuals can still have a narcissistic identity and be effective as a leader, as long as they have a humble reputation. Organizations tend to favor people who “seem” leaderlike. Individuals who are self-promoting, interesting and politically savvy tend to get earmarked for promotion. These leaders know what it takes to get ahead and get noticed, and they strategically cater to audiences who can offer them power, influence, status or access to resources. Charisma is the elusive quality of being charming, captivating and pleasant to be around. We are naturally drawn to charismatic people because we feel good in their presence. However, charismatic people also tend to have inflated views of themselves and their skills. They also tend to be more self-promoting than others. Too much charisma can make for ineffective leaders as their tendency to be narcissistic can alienate those working under them. Dena adds: In essence, charisma is a double-edged sword. Too little and it’s difficult to persuade team members to support your vision. Too much and team members feel unsupported and disengaged. The strong overlap between charisma and narcissism means that it’s easy for charm to turn into arrogance and entitlement. Humility, on the other hand, is vitally important to creating stability and engagement within teams. One of the most famous studies on the topic analyses the success of 11 high-performing companies. The leaders in the highest performing firms had two things in common: they were fiercely competitive, yet personally humble. The good news is that even the most arrogant of leaders can increase their effectiveness by showing humility, even if it’s not entirely genuine. Here are five tips for avoiding the pitfalls of charisma: Put the spotlight on others: make a concerted effort to recognize the achievements of team members and subordinates Increase self-awareness: actively try to understand your limitations and show a willingness to acknowledge your mistakes Be open to feedback: a trademark of humility is being coachable, which means opening yourself up to criticism and accepting that your way is not the only way Check your sense of entitlement: work to earn the respect of your colleagues, don’t automatically assume you are entitled to it Monitor your self-promoting behaviors: focus on trying to get along rather than getting ahead About: Founded in 1987 by Drs. Joyce and Robert Hogan, Hogan has been leading the world in personality assessment and leadership development for over 30 years. It produced the first assessments to scientifically measure personality for business use.

How to Choose a Resume Writing Font

How to Choose a Resume Writing FontThe right resume writing font is more important than ever, as today's business landscape demands a new level of fluency. Every day, many job seekers are stuck working in a monotone, written document, as the words 'I'me' overwhelm them. And although the majority of employers don't care what font a resume is written in, many still require it to read the contents of the document. No matter how professional your resume is, the current state of things can still overwhelm you. In order to write a more impressive letter, you'll want to change up the font style of your document. Below are three great ways to do this.Change up the font size. There are plenty of resume fonts out there to choose from, but not all of them should be used for all documents. Instead, experiment with changing the size of your font. This will help make your document seems more natural, as well as being more clear on the smaller size.Increase the contrast of your font. To do this, sel ect a size that is a lot larger than the font you use in your document. Then, using the larger font, decrease the contrast of the word and design to make the lettering appear more detailed and clean.Decrease the contrast. You can also use the exact same size as the font that is already used in your resume, but you should do so by decreasing the color or contrast of the background. It doesn't matter if you can see the other parts of the document, as long as they still look like your resume letter. There are many reasons why this font is used in a number of business documents, including letters, newsletters, resumes, and more. This is due to the fact that the formal format demands an impressive typeface that stands out above the rest. Some of the reasons include, the ability to be read from across the room, and the ability to increase professionalism. No matter what business you're in, using a professional writing font will help boost your chances of landing a position, or your dreams o f becoming one. The wrong choice can hold you back from getting the experience and recognition you want, leaving you wondering if you made the right decision. Knowing how to change your resume writing font will make all the difference, as it will let you communicate to the reader what's in the document.Because the first impression is the most important, it is vital that you use your best material to portray yourself to the reader. Use a font that makes the most of your skills and personality, while at the same time communicating the necessary information. Make sure to experiment with different fonts, styles, and sizes so that you can bring more credibility to your resume, ensuring that you get the best job in the end.

Monday Tip Praise a co-worker - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Monday Tip Praise a co-worker - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Heres a fun, easy thing to do, to give one lucky co-worker a great start to the work-week. First choose a co-worker you want to give a boost. Someone who deserves it or maybe a person who could really use it. Grab a piece of paper, and write Things we appreciate about John Miller (Or whatever his/her name is) at the top. Then write one thing you appreciate about John and sign your name underneath. Pass it on to another co-worker with instructions to do the same and pass it on. Do all of this without John noticing which can be kinda fun in itself. When everyone has written one thing they appreciate about John, its time to give the paper to him. Here are some ways to do it: Tack it to his PC screen when hes not looking and let him find it there. Hang it on the department bulletin board for everyone to see. Go wild and let the whole department/team show up and hand it over to John in an improvised ceremony that could even include balloons, a song and a speech or two. You could also arrange the writing thing via email, but handwriting on paper has a nice personal touch. The Chief Happiness Officers monday tips are simple, easy, fun things you can do to make yourself and others happy at work and get the work-week off to a great start. Something everyone can do in five minutes, tops. When you try it, write a comment here to tell me how it went. Previous monday tips. Thanks for visiting my blog. Your monday mission: Praise someone. Pick a co-worker and give that person positive feedback. It can be on something he or she has done recently (I really enjoyed your idea about developing the Hansen account) or on what you generally appreciate about that person (I really like the way you always add great ideas to our project meetings). Dont make a big production out of it, just go up to a colleague, deliver your praise and then get back to work. Do not hang around waiting to be praised back :o) Also do not add a but you really need to improve your after the praise :o) Remember that whatever praise you choose to give has to be genuine. You cant praise just to praise, so think about something you truly appreciate about that person. For extra bonus points: Praise someone you dont talk to often. Its a great way to establish contact. Praise your manager. Managers often hear very little praise from their employees. But: Dont kiss butt only genuine praise counts. If you really want a challenge, praise someone you dont like much or someone youre currently having a conflict with. It can be a great way to get un-stuck. Cant think of anything positive about that person? Try again theres always something.
